Cary Bosak is a licensed clinical social worker with over 12 years of experience in the social work field. Cary currently works in the mental health service for Columbia Medical School where she sees students for a range of mental health issues and is the leader for the eating disorder team. Until recently she maintained a full time psychotherapy practice in New York City and Westchester County where she worked with adolescents and adults with a focus on eating disordered behaviors and trauma. Prior to entering private practice, Cary coordinated and helped develop a hospital-based program that provided services to survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, as well as other violent crimes at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell. Additionally she has worked in the Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital and as a clinical consultant with the Columbia/Barnard Sexual Violence Response Program. Cary received post graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center and is trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.) Cary has a special interest in working with various types of trauma, eating and body image issues, and women’s health issues and incorporates a mindfulness approach to her work.
