Ashley E. Stewart promotes self-awareness and advocacy skills as a social work educator. As a policy/political social worker, Ashley is passionate about the translational aspect of research, policy, advocacy, and social change. Her two main research areas are theory development around racial trauma, and policy advocacy around efficient and intentional federal programming.
Ashley has taught Introduction to Social Work, Social Problems and Social Policies, and Policy Advocacy. She has worked extensively in higher education, around student support and program development. Further, she has been an advocate from community-based service, specifically she worked closely with a Women’s prison, and a school for children with a diagnosis of Emotional Disturbance, in the state of Ohio.
Ms. Stewart received her BA from Rutgers University, MSW from Columbia University, and is completing her PhD at The Ohio State University.
