Andria L. Whited, CIP, graduated from Columbia School of Social Work in 2005 with a Policy Practice Concentration and began working as a Project Manager for researchers in the Columbia Department of Child Psychiatry at New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI). The first research programs she managed were in the area of mental health in the juvenile justice population. Later programs included the NY State Office of Mental Health’s PSYCKES project. She is currently a protocol analyst for the Institutional Review Board at NYSPI, which reviews mental health and substance abuse research. Investigators and their staff consult with her about how best to apply the federal regulations in regard to human subject research as they amend and develop their studies. Andria is also a meditation teacher through the Foundation for Active Compassion and leads meditation weekly for NYSPI employees and bi-monthly at Union Theological for the general public.
