Alirio H. Guerrero, LMSW, has been with Children’s Aid Society for 14 years as Director of Preventive Services. He currently oversees preventive services for at-risk families, where he is responsible for risk reduction and ensuring safety of children so that they can stay with their families in their own home.
Mr. Guerrero studied at Rutgers University, where he received his Bachelors in Social Work and also earned his MSW from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work. Prior to pursuing his MSW he worked for New Jersey DYFS as Child Abuse Investigator and as an adolescent case specialist. Alirio then relocated to New York City where he worked as Program Supervisor for a Lower East Side Community Based Organization, where he provided advocacy and other services for immigrant families facing child abuse issues.
Mr. Guerrero maintains a private practice in Manhattan and in Montclair, NJ where he specializes in family therapy with bi-racial, bi-cultural families. He received a certification in Family Therapy after completing a five year externship at New York’s prestigious Ackerman Institute for the Family.
