Aizhan Mitteldorf has over fourteen years of professional experience in nonprofit and private sectors. She helped organize the roundtable on the National Development Strategy for Tajikistan at the UN Millennium Project in New York. As regional coordinator at Counterpart International, Ms. Mitteldorf successfully negotiated funding for Healthy Communities project in four Central Asian countries. As Director of educational advising center for Soros Foundation Kazakhstan, she oversaw a network of five higher education information centers. In 1999, she launched the first Educational Fair in Kazakhstan. She was a research associate at Institutional Investor magazine. Notably, from 2010 to 2013, Ms. Mitteldorf ran a moderately successful Internet startup. Her research interests include Community Organizing, Nonprofit Management and International Social Enterprise. She holds a MS in Social Work from Columbia University, MBA in International Marketing and Finance from Baruch College and BA in Political Science from Kazakh National University. She was a Soros Fellow at Columbia University School of Social Work in 2002-2004.
