Stigma and discrimination are key components of social systems of oppression that generate stratification and consequent health inequities. One of the great challenges of social interventions that aim to reduce inequities is designing, testing and implementing anti-stigma and anti-discrimination programming at levels higher than the individual. In this lecture, Dr. Victoria Frye (bio), Medical Professor of Community Health and Social Medicine at the City University of New York School of Medicine, will discuss her team science-based research on how community-level interventions to reduce stigma and discrimination mitigate vulnerabilities to HIV and sexual violence among marginalized populations, as well as contribute to broader efforts to disrupt and dismantle systems of oppression.
