Funding proposals for community-based programs are more likely to succeed when proposal writers consult with the intended recipients of the support and with those who possess the kind of direct experience that can help with envisioning program goals. Dr. Soraya M. Coley (bio), president of the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), will share the basics of program design and proposal writing for community services funding. Coley is the coauthor, with Cynthia Scheinberg, of the best-selling book Proposal Writing: Effective Grantsmanship for Funding (Sage, 2016). She has nearly 30 years of higher education experience and has worked with nonprofits and community-based organizations on program design, evaluation, and grant writing.
