What are the effects of enhanced child benefits that target low-income families? Dr. Mark Stabile (bio), the Stone Chaired Professor of Wealth Inequality and Professor of Economics at Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), has used his research on this question to advise the governments of the United States, Canada, and Ontario, among others, and shape health care reform and programs to reduce child poverty. In this lecture, Dr. Stabile will explore recent research on how effective these benefits have been in reducing poverty; the implications for maternal employment; and the impacts of these benefits on household spending and the health and wellbeing of children of low-income families.
