Dr. William Elliott III (bio), professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work and founding director of the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion, is a leading researcher in the fields of children’s savings, student debt, and wealth inequality. Numerous news and media outlets, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, have featured his work. He is co-author of the book Making Education Work for the Poor: The Potential of Children’s Savings Accounts, published by Oxford University Press in 2018. In this lecture, Dr. Elliott will argue that the drive Americans have demonstrated throughout their history comes not just from having enough money to pay their bills each week or having enough to live by, but from the promise of a better future, and the role that Children’s Savings Accounts can play in providing that better future.
NY-, NJ-, and CT-licensed social workers can earn 1.5 CE hours. As a service to the community, CSSW is waiving the fee for CE hours.
