As social workers, we envision a world where housing is a universal human right. As a caucus, we are committed to advocating for just housing policies in New York City, including the preservation of the “right to shelter” mandate, connecting with advocates and agencies throughout city to engage in collective action and community organizing for housing rights, and educating the CSSW student body and the larger community on housing justice issues. We center the voices of those with lived experience of homelessness and housing instability and believe that leadership by and for those with lived experience is fundamental for full housing justice and liberation.
