New Student Checklist

You've made it! Now what? To ensure your enrollment process goes smoothly, please complete the following tasks by the dates listed:

1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for financial aid. ASAP
2. Submit the Statistics Course documentation. Note: You may have already fulfilled our statistics requirement—please check your admission letter for confirmation. If so, no additional documentation is needed. ASAP
3. Dual Degree Students Only: Mail your acceptance letter from the partner school to Columbia University School of Social Work, Office of Student Services, 1255 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10027. July 1
4. International Students Only: Apply for a student visa. ASAP
5. Activate your University Network ID (UNI) and Columbia University e-mail. Your UNI will not be created until your tuition deposit has been received. ASAP
6. Submit the Field Education Placement Form using the appropriate link (full-time students only; Columbia e-mail account and a PDF or Microsoft Word copy of your resumé are required): Two Year OR Advanced Standing/Transfer. Note: The Field Education Department requires this form of all incoming full-time students for capturing key information for use in determining your field placement. June 1
7. Submit immunizations documentation for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR Form). NOTE: You will not be able to register for classes without completing the New York State immunization requirements. June 1
8. Apply for transfer credit. July 1
9. Submit the Registration Form: Two-Year Program | Reduced Residency Program | Advanced Standing Program | Transfer Program. The submission of this form confirms your plan to enroll at the School and informs the Office of Student Services of pertinent information that may affect your class schedule. June 1
10. Submit a photo for your CU ID card (UNI & PW required). June 1
11. If you have not already done so, send in your final, official transcript(s) showing undergraduate degree received and date awarded to Columbia School of Social Work, Admissions Office, 1255 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10027. ASAP
12. Learn about waiver exams and, if applicable, register to take them. As needed
